If you want a cheap upgrade to your Dakar, drop in one of the extended-tip Iridium plugs, and get a 15T sprocket. It's not the same amount of frenzy of the F800GS, but it's certainly an improvement. If you get bored and want to test ride mine, let me know =) I'm installing a new chain on her today.

The F800GS has a number of disappointments over my trusty Dakar. As you suggest, the seat was not as comfortable, the distance between the brake/gear shift and foot pegs is too short, and the traditional BMW-style turn signals are terrible. But the power is so nice and smooth! My Dak felt wimpy after riding the 800. The annoying things about the 800 could easily be resolved with an expensive order at Touratech or a few other aftermarket places...

The 800GS is a heck of a fun bike. I'd sure miss the Dakar seat though!

Just as an FYI, BMW of Atlanta charges 10% of the bike cost for consignment, with a minimum charge of $500.
