Today I:

  • Got my AppEngine instance online at at it’s production URL.
  • Woke my wife up, told her about the new Nikon D90 (it shoots video!)
  • Half-heartedly lubricated the chain on my motorcycle.
  • Got a hug from my wife with my gear on (who noted that it was like hugging a tank)
  • Commuted to work in 1 hour and 5 minutes
  • Got breakfast at work: Biscuits, Gravy, Sausage, and Bacon.
  • Updated bugs with overdue updates, answered e-mails.
  • Spent all day working out why my MapReduce jobs are only seeing the first row of each BigTable column.
  • Sat in on an Engineering Review for changes to a large datastore that I use
  • Ate a quick lunch: Eggplant Parmesan, Swiss Chard, zucchini, bread.
  • Got owned by a coworker!  (changed work password, reinstalled laptop)
  • Obsessed over Google Reader and advrider.com while waiting for MR jobs to complete.
  • Ordered a new spark plug and speed-bleeders for my bike
  • Printed out flyers for another TechTalk
  • Attended TechTalk given by Gary McGraw on Exploiting and Cheating MMORPG’s. Some great facts, but at times it felt more like a sales presentation than a technical one
  • Ate a quick dinner at work: Black-bean burgers and pineapple shrimp
  • Imagining the laugh that the author of W32.Gammima.AG is having
  • Fed up with my MapReduce issue, going home
  • Noted that my motorcycle is feeling "sick", needs oil change soon!
  • Duct-taped my external flash to a tripod
  • Went outside for Dallas to take my photo (above) – strobist makes it look so easy.
  • Got a package from B&H: Lightroom 2 was in it, but the battery I ordered was not.
  • Consulted with my wife on her upcoming t-shirt quilt
  • Edited a wiki document for a Codelab I am running tomorrow
  • Ack, 11:30pm, time to head to bed.
  • Listened to my wife’s daily emotion dump (then fell asleep)

Have you Hugged a Developer Today?
