Web Toys, Cookouts, and Two Wheels

Some tiny updates over the last 3 days:

  • AppEngine: During an hour long meeting, I went from having an idea for a web application to developing and deploying it to scale for millions of users without any further tweaking. Thanks to Google App Engine. This thing is incredible! More on this tomorrow.
  • Cookout:  On Sunday night we hosted a cookout for some friends of ours. Bill, Jane, Marc, Young, and Jamie were there. We grilled and consumed food at a rate that would startle. Good times.
  • Moovr: I’m working on my Flickr -> Picasaweb migration tool again. I’ve retooled it to be simpler and more generic. I got the blessing to work on it during my 20% time.
  • Motorcycle: Just did the 24,000 maintenance on the Dakar. Replaced the chain and rear sprocket, spark plug, and changed the oil & oil filter.  Deferring the  fuel filter, brake cup, water pump seal, and clutch cable for a later date.  I’ve got another month or two before I need a new set of tires. I will most likely get a set of TKC80‘s and Diablo Strada‘s.
  • Recumbent: Sold my 2001 RANS Rocket today for $600!
  • Motorcycle Boots: I’m testing the Acerbis Impact X-Tight MX boots out. I’m having to learn how to shift properly in such a large boot: About 30% of the time I get stuck in neutral when I’m trying to shift from first to second.
