This morning, Dallas woke me up sometime after 6am to the sound of howling winds making their way through our neighborhood. I didn’t hear the telltale sign of a tornado, nor any sirens, but it was bad enough that I had us move down to the bathroom downstairs. The high winds only lasted 10 minutes or so, but they allegedly got up to speeds of 60mph. No damage to our yard thankfully, but many homes on our street did not have the same luck. This photo is from 1160 Pine Grove Pointe Dr, showing a tree right through the bedroom:
There were several people with damage to cars, RV’s, or boats, like this one:
There were some firefighters roaming the streets checking for anyone in need of assistance, as well as gas leaks. It seems that no one got seriously hurt in our neighborhood, which I am thankful for. I roamed the streets near Pine Grove Pointe Dr. & Shallowford Rd. with Clover and Dallas to see if there was anything I could help with.
We donated some tarps to this poor guy at 1170 Pine Grove Pointe Dr. who had no roof over his bedroom:
Our street was blocked off, and the power out, so I didn’t manage to get any work done this morning. I was supposed to do a phone interview, but with no cellphone coverage or internet access, I wasn’t able to. By noon, the last tree blocking the way out of the neighborhood was cut & moved, so Dallas and I were able to get out and get on with our day.
Hopefully the power will be back online tonight. Till then, enjoy the rest of the After The Storm Photo Album
