Thomas + Paperwork - Sleep. Bloomington, 31oct2003.

I swear the 30th and 29th of October never happened. Somehow I woke up this morning to seeing on my phone an e-mail from my father titled “Happy Halloween”. I knew there were parties to go to tonight, but I really didn’t ever bother to look what day Halloween actually was.

So, a few random things..

On Wednesday I cooked for Dallas. Bowtie pasta with some type of whitish sauce and sausage. For the pasta I followed it’s directions on “Al Dente” style, which seems to mean “Just a little undercooked”.. I also threw way too much pepper in, and Dallas didn’t like my sausage. While it was a bit peppery, it was still edible, and I at least somewhat liked what I ended up with. It was a learning session, a reminder to prepare everything before you start putting things in the oven, and to keep the timing of all the parts in mind. I’ll work on surprising Dallas by making something decent

Yesterday I ate at a Moroccan restaurant here in Bloomington, for Gihan’s birthday. I ordered Lamb Tajine, and Dallas ordered Moroccan Chicken. My lamb had the consistency of dog food, but the vegetables were pretty good. Dallas’s plate was a very sweet tasty dish, something I will have to order myself in the later. She also had Moroccan tea, which was minty, yet quite hot.

Piping hot, actually. I’ve determined that Dallas and I have a temperature offset of about 10′F. She doesn’t mind the scalding hot water in tea’s or such, but complains if my apartment temperature is a comfortable 72′F. I can only hope to do her justice by taking her to a 212′F sauna sometime.

Tentatively planned for the summer is taking 2 weeks off of work, and disappearing to Europe with Dallas. Ideally, this would be mid-to-end May, when my birthday is. Spend some time in Sweden, and take the rails over to Netherlands and France. No formal planning has been made yet, but with 6 weeks of vacation a year at this job, I have to do something, ya know.

Too bad I don’t have my old salary to go along with it.. ahh.. It’s payday today. The sign downstairs says I can pick it up in 2 hours. I haven’t had a real paycheck now in over 4 weeks!
